- Safely operate a heavy or light truck, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to identify and address mechanical issues before hitting the road.
- Plan and follow efficient routes to optimize delivery times, while considering road conditions and traffic patterns.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is mandatory for driving heavy trucks.
- Preferred experience of 2-5 years in long-haul or local trucking to understand the nuances of the job.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) for tracking hours of service and compliance with regulations.
- Ability to navigate using GPS and traditional maps to find the best routes for deliveries.
