Child Care/Kid Space Teacher – Full Time
Location: Akron, OH
Salary: $42,000.00 - $50,000.00
Full‑time child care position (40 hrs/week). Monday‑Friday 7:30 am‑4 pm with a 30‑minute lunch break.
Job SummaryOur child care program is part of a trauma‑informed Women’s Services Program and provides care for patients’ children while they utilize our services. Staff create a safe play environment that encourages learning through exploration and curiosity, strengthens the development of social, intellectual, and communication skills, and reinforces the importance of total family wellness. Responsibilities include caring for children, ensuring they feel safe, entertaining them in developmentally appropriate ways, attending to physical needs (diaper changing, restroom use, bottles, feeding, comforting, hand/face washing), and being sensitive to parents and children’s needs.
Responsibilities- Provide a safe play environment that encourages learning and exploration.
- Ensure children feel safe and well‑cared for.
- Entertain and play with them in developmentally appropriate ways.
- Attend to physical needs such as diaper changing, restroom use, feeding, comforting, and hand/face washing.
- Respond to the parent and child’s needs with sensitivity.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers.
- High school diploma.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Clear criminal background check and drug screening.
- Prepared to work with children up to 12 years old.
- Reliable and capable of arriving on time.
- Patience and the ability to multi‑task.
- Positive and nurturing attitude.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Ability to get down on the floor with children.
- Ability to hold or lift a 30‑lb child.
- Preferred training:
First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease, Childhood Abuse/Neglect.
