Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented radio Broadcast Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality audio production and broadcast for our radio stations. This role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio equipment, as well as collaborating with on-air talent and production staff to create exceptional audio content.
Key Responsibilities- Operate audio mixing consoles, microphones, recording equipment, and other audio devices during live broadcasts and pre-recorded sessions.
- Edit, mix, and master audio recordings to meet broadcast standards and enhance overall sound quality.
- Monitor audio levels and make adjustments to ensure clear, balanced, and distortion-free sound.
- Perform regular maintenance and calibration of audio equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with audio equipment, including signal flow, wiring, and connectivity problems.
- Maintain an inventory of audio equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
- Provide technical support during live broadcasts, including setting up and operating remote broadcast equipment.
- Collaborate with on-air talent and production staff to ensure smooth and seamless broadcasts.
- Monitor broadcasts for technical quality and address any issues that arise in real-time.
- Work closely with producers, hosts, and other team members to understand their audio needs and provide technical expertise.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure all audio elements are properly integrated into broadcasts and recordings.
- Provide training and guidance to on-air talent and production staff on the use of audio equipment and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including FCC rules and industry standards.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines when handling and operating audio equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Broadcasting, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as an audio engineer in a radio or broadcasting environment.
- Proficiency with audio editing software (e.g., Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Audacity) and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Strong understanding of audio signal flow, acoustics, and sound design principles.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of FCC regulations and industry standards is a plus.
- This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate live broadcasts and production schedules.
- The role may involve lifting and moving audio equipment and working in confined spaces, such as studios and control rooms.
