Saratoga Sun general reporter

The Saratoga Sun, a historic weekly newspaper in southern Wyoming, is seeking a general assignment reporter to join our team.

Located in the Upper North Platte River Valley, Saratoga is a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts nestled between the Snowy Range and Sierra Madre mountains. This position is the perfect opportunity for a new reporter looking to cut their teeth in the industry or for a veteran journalist looking for a slower change of pace.

A general assignment reporter will have a variety of beats, ranging from coverage of local government meetings to high school sports to writing human interest features. Reporters are expected to take their own photographs to accompany their articles. Each week brings something different, even in a small community like the Platte Valley.

In your off time, enjoy hiking in the summer and snow shoeing in the winter or cast a line into one of two blue ribbon fisheries in the North Platte or Encampment rivers. Saratoga is day trip away from larger towns and cities like Cheyenne and Casper, Wyoming or Fort Collins and Denver, Colorado.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated but can take direction and can work independently or as a team and must be able to work with the Adobe Suite of tools. Experience with social media preferred.

Pay is dependent on experience, starting at $17 per hour.
