Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time Special Education Teacher position supports students in a middle school setting within Akron, OH. The role is for the current school year on a contract basis, providing specialized instruction in a resource room environment for approximately 10 students ranging from moderate to intensive needs. The teaching schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:15 AM to 3:00 PM, totaling 7 hours and 45 minutes daily.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering tailored educational support to students in grades 6 through 8 with diverse cognitive abilities, including some non-verbal and higher functioning learners.
  • Collaborating with a team of six instructional aides who support students both within the resource room and in general education classrooms.
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students academic, social, and munication needs.
  • Maintaining an inclusive learning environment that fosters progress and engagement.
  • Managing all duties within one school building, ensuring effective coordination and munication among staff.
Qualifications and desired experience
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students displaying moderate to intensive special needs, including non-verbal learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with aides and general education staff.
  • Strong organizational and munication skills.
