Maintenance Technician

Overview

This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and utilizes mechanical, electrical and instrumentation skills to resolve issues at the Akron Lyondell Basell facility, including troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of electrical and instrument equipment to maintain continuous operation of the site’s operating units.

This is a 1st shift position: 8am - 4pm.

• Accountable for personal safety, co-worker safety, and promoting a safe work environment
• Perform work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
• Provide technical expertise in installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of unit equipment including transformers, breakers and other power distribution equipment, motor starters and motors, level, flow and pressure instruments, control valves, PLCs and other process control systems
• Apply electrical theory to testing, troubleshooting, configuring, teardown/rebuilding, and repairing operational electrical machinery and control equipment
• Test, troubleshoot, configure, rebuild, and repair motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, and related equipment per engineering data
• Modify electrical systems to correct functional deviations under direction of an Electrical Engineer or Specialist
• Diagnose causes of electrical or mechanical malfunctions and perform preventive and corrective maintenance
• Understand and initiate corrections of electrical one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications for modifications or expansions
• Record data from periodic electrical testing and identify equipment needing modification or replacement
• Support all manufacturing maintenance activities and perform diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment
• Re-assemble equipment using precision measuring tools to fit and adjust critical clearances
• Perform preventative maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned
• Enter work orders in SAP and coordinate with production for scheduled downtime for PMs and repairs
• Develop approaches to correct malfunctions and plan repair sequences for mechanical and electrical systems

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of electrician experience with industrial electrical power distribution equipment and systems
• 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting
• Experience with common electrical concepts, practices, and procedures
• Satisfactory technical and professional skills in the electrical discipline
• NCCER certification in electrical maintenance a plus

• Associate degree in electrical/instrumentation or equivalent two-year trade school
