Capstone Search Advisors is currently searching for a Coatings Chemist for a manufacturing client in Akron Ohio.

We’re looking for a talented, curious, and hands-on Coatings Chemist to help shape the next generation of coatings.

Job Responsibilities:

• Formulate new and innovative solvent-based and/or waterborne coatings, paints, and finishes.
• Conduct laboratory testing for adhesion, durability, corrosion resistance, viscosity, and application properties.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing formulations for performance, cost, and compliance.
• Stay ahead of regulatory trends (e.g. VOC, REACH) and ensure all products meet applicable standards.
• Collaborate with production, sales, and customers on custom formulations and technical support.
• Manage lab records, batch tracking, and technical documentation.

Preferred Experience/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in coatings formulation (industrial, architectural, automotive, or similar).
• Strong understanding of raw materials, resin systems, pigments, and additives.
• A “hands-on” mindset and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
• Passion for chemistry and a desire to see your work in action.
