Intern Electronics Technician

Xadite Engineering is an advanced technology company specializing in RF, analog, and digital sensing techniques for a wide range of customer products. In addition to hardware design, the team develops supporting firmware and software applications and applies intelligent signal processing and sensor fusion to create robust, high-performance sensing systems. Interns gain exposure to cutting-edge electronics and real-world engineering projects in a collaborative environment.

The Intern Electronics Technician role is a part-time, on-site position based in Akron, OH. The intern supports engineers in assembling, testing, and validating electronic prototypes and production units, including RF, analog, and digital sensing hardware. Daily tasks to facilitate high speed R&D activities include rapid solder paste printing, loading and configuring pick-and-place machine and using reflow oven to produce batches of prototype circuit boards, rapidly 3D printing and monitoring parts, using electronics equipment and RF equipment to test circuit boards and systems under development, using microscope to reworking circuit boards down to 0402 component size, performing basic wiring and bench testing, documenting test results, sourcing project components, managing inventory and helping troubleshoot circuits and systems.

The role also involves automation of robotics and RF measurement equipment for implementing advanced automated testing, developing and maintaining safety and quality procedures. Assisting engineers with drafting tasks by turning hand written electrical schematics designs into CAD schematics, or turning hand written mechanical drawings into 3D CAD models is a plus. The intern collaborates with the engineering team to ensure that hardware development platforms are prepared and modified for firmware development, signal processing experiments, and customer demonstrations.

• Foundational skills in Electronics Technology and Electricity for working with circuits, components, and lab equipment.
• Demonstrated Soldering skills for assembling and reworking PCBs and wiring harnesses.
• Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving basic electronic and hardware issues.
• Robotic and automation aptitude for supporting the design and upkeep of robotic systems and measurement instrumentation and prototype systems.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree, diploma, or certificate in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to read basic schematics, follow technical instructions, and document test procedures and results thoroughly.
• Comfort working in a lab environment with standard electronic test tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
• Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering team.
