Off-duty Akron Police Officers at Akron-Summit County Public Library
The Akron-Summit County Public Library seeks off-duty Akron Police Officers to fill shifts (minimum of three hours) at Main Library and city branches (Ellet, Firestone Park, Goodyear, Highland Square, Kenmore, and Maple Valley).
Responsibilities- Patrolling Library buildings, grounds, and parking lots
- Monitoring electronic or video security system
- Observing customer behavior and intervening when problems occur as directed by Library staff
- Advising Library customers of behavior guidelines and enforcing those guidelines
- Helping with the evacuation or movement of employees and public in emergency situations
- Completing incident reports as necessary
- Must be an Akron Police Officer
Compensation is established by the City of Akron Chief's Directive for off-duty police jobs. In addition to the hourly rate, the Library also contributes to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
