The Athletic Trainer provides direct patient care including ongoing assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning, prevention and education.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care including ongoing assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning, prevention and education.
  • Provides instruction and assistance to patients and the families as appropriate.
  • Communicates with physicians, coaches and health professionals regarding patient care and coordination of services and other needs as indicated.
  • Provides written documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Works with and provides guidance to students and unlicensed personnel.
  • Seeks educational opportunities to further professional development.
  • Fosters enhanced awareness/understanding of athletic training, sports medicine, and clinic/hospital programs to the department, hospital, schools and other community organizations.
  • Participates in departmental research and educational programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psych/ social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
  • Other duties as required.

Other Information

Technical Expertise

  • Ability to maneuver into a variety of small spaces and assume various positions including crawling, kneeling and squatting.
  • Must possess sufficient strength to ensure safety of unstable patients and assist in patient transfers.
  • Fine motor functions including precise hand/eye coordination as well as gross motor functions which allow for manipulation of tools, instruments and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both patients and families.
  • Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.

Education And Experience

  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certification:
    Licensed by the Ohio OT/PT/AT Board is required. Certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainer required. Current Healthcare Provider BLS training required.
  • Years of relevant experience:
    Minimum of three (3) years of experience is preferred.
  • Years of supervisory experience:
    None.

Full Time, 40 Hours/Week, Variable Schedule, Including Evenings and Weekends, Onsite, Travel Required

Sign on Bonus
: $6,000 Sign on Bonus (taxable) available. Bonus paid in full in first paycheck.
