Full-time, 40 hours/week
Monday - Friday, Days 2:30PM - 11PM, Every other weekend and Holiday rotation
Onsite Akron, OH Summary

The Sterile Processing Specialist is certified in the process and is responsible for a combination of the following functions: decontamination, cleaning, assembly and sterilization of all instruments, and inventory control of Sterile Processing and Operating Room [OR] supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterilization of all instruments and equipment.
  • Responsible for inventory control of Sterile Processing and OR supplies.
  • Must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization, and regulatory standards biological monitoring.
  • Ability to operate all sterilization equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.
  • Participates in educational efforts for the department, unit, and hospital.
  • Participates in various hospital activities as appropriate and as directed by the Manager.
  • Resource to new staff.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Experience in Sterile Processing is Required.
  • Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
  • Education and Experience
  • Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification: CSPDT or CRCST (introductory certification) required.
  • Years of relevant experience:
    One (1) year required.
  • Must be a subject matter expert in 2 specialty areas.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push and pull carts containing medical supplies and instruments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shift hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to biohazardous materials and sharp instruments; adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols is required.
