**** What You Will Do as a Hospice Chaplain

As a Hospice Chaplain, you will responsible for the provision of spiritual support to patients and families in keeping their belief system.

You will implement and coordinate all activities relating to the spiritual aspect of the patient care program.
** Some of your primary responsibilities will include:
*** Providing direct spiritual support to patients and families
* Working with team members, clergy, and community groups to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of patients/families experiencing terminal illness and loss
* Participating in patient conferences/meetings to explore and assess the spiritual needs of patients/families
* Providing bereavement follow-up services as indicated by the plan of care
* Developing and maintaining a resource group of clergies to whom specific aspects of spiritual care may be delegated
* Preparing accurate patient documentation and submitting

** Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements
*** Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology, or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry preferred
* Experience in working with patients/families dealing with a life-threatening illness or death preferred
* Licensure, certification, and/or coursework as required by the state
