Privacy Officer Full-time / 40 hours per week

Summary:

Administers the system Privacy Program and Summa’s commitment to comply with state and federal regulations. This positions functions as an independent body that reviews and evaluates privacy issues/concerns within the organization. Responsible for developing, maintaining and overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures as well as education, investigation, monitoring and auditing responsibilities. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Summa Health System assets.

Participates in ongoing enforcement and monitoring activities related to privacy in compliance with organizational policy, regulatory requirements, federal and state laws, accreditation and industry standards.

Formal

Education Required:

a.
Bachelor’s degree or higher (Advanced degree or JD preferred) 2.
Experience and Training

Required:

a.
Five (5) or more years of demonstrable, professional experience in a large integrated healthcare delivery system implementing HIPAA Privacy regulations and application state and federal regulations or other highly regulated industryb.
One or more Certifications required/preferred:i.
Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) ii.
Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
* preferred iii.
Certification in Privacy Security (CHPS)
* preferred iv.
– Requires 1500 hours working in healthcare compliance prior to examination

Other Skills, Competencies and

Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in state and Federal Privacy lawsb.
Knowledge and experience in conducting investigations and privacy auditsc.
Knowledge of Office of Civil Rights and Office of National Coordination Cures Actd.
