Job Summary:

Prevention Specialist is responsible for the provision of prevention workshops that are grant funded by Summit County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addition, and Mental Health Services of Summit County. All programming must follow grant guidelines. The purpose/intent of the Prevention Specialist is to provide specific and measurable group workshops as identified by the grant and to assist with administrative duties as needed.

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Coordination and/or assisting in the administrative duties of informing and promoting the target population of the groups being offered;
  • Providing prevention group services for individuals and organizations throughout the Summit County area;
  • Documenting group services in accordance with grant and MBHG's administrative guidelines;
  • Providing referral information to the community and individuals participating in the groups regarding behavioral health services in the community related to substance abuse, mental health and/or other clinically relevant topics;
  • Attending relevant in-service training as required;
  • Performing other duties as required by the Program Coordinator or designee;
  • Adhering to and supporting the Mission/Ministry/Purpose of MBHG.
Qualifications:

The qualified individual for this position will have graduated high school and have at least completed a four-year degree. He/She will also be a Registered Applicant (RA) with the State of Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board or will have to obtain RA status within the first 10 days of employment. In addition, the individual will have or is eligible to obtain the OCPS-A, OCPS-I, or OCPS-II certification.

Have supervisory experience along with the training and education necessary to perform the functions and duties listed above. This individual will also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other design programs, and advance computer skills. Also expected, is the exhibition of excellent customer service, organizational, problem solving, and communication skills. This individual will be expected to act with integrity and maintain confidentiality.

Language and Writing

Skills:
  • Aptitude to speak effectively before groups of people or employees of organizations.
  • Documentation such as: a. Maintain relevant documentation and provide data, requested; b. Complete progress notes that include place, time, length or service provided, how it related to program requirement, and outcomes of service; c. Document all services rendered; d. Complete daily Service Activity Logs (SALS) denoting each group, administrative time, and assignments as requested; e. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
