The CNC Mill Operator, operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate parts according to customer specifications.
What You'll Do:
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of a finished workpiece, sequence of operations and change specific tooling (e.g. – inserts, drills, etc.) where applicable.
- Measures, and determines dimensions required on sample pieces & samples to determine conformance to finish specifications.
- May be required to perform inspection and statistical analysis of process to determine actions necessary to maintain quality levels on parts and process.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Assist on teardowns of machines when necessary. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- May be required to discuss with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Keep their areas clean and maintained in proper order.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time;
Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent;
Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
What You'll Need:
- High School diploma or GED equivalence and/or 2 years minimum machining experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- The ability to use calculators, computers and reference materials.
- Ability to solve practical problems as they occur within the scope of the job requirements.
