Multi‑Axis Mill​/Turn Machinist – Orthopedic Manufacturing

At Avalign in Akron, OH, you’ll translate complex prints into life‑enhancing orthopedic instruments and implants. On our 2nd shift, you’ll take ownership of multi‑axis mill/turn equipment, guiding parts from setup through inspection in a temperature‑controlled environment.

A day in this role

You arrive for second shift, review the job traveler and I.P. sheets, and stage material and tooling. You set up a CNC mill/turn, dial in offsets, and run a first piece—documenting results in the First Piece Log. Throughout the run, you perform in‑process checks, deburr components, make efficient tool changes and size adjustments, and keep the machine on schedule with light daily preventative maintenance.

Before handing off, you capture final measurements and ensure every detail meets the print and GD&T requirements.

What you’ll take on Independently operate a variety of CNC mill/turn machines

Perform complete machine setups and changeovers

Execute daily preventative maintenance on assigned machines

Process required documentation (job travelers, in‑process/I.P. sheets, etc.)Complete and facilitate the First Piece Log Perform tool changes, tool size changes, and offset adjustments

Set tooling on all machine types within your assigned zone Fabricate medical instruments and implants, deburr parts, and inspect using gauges and metrology tools
