A Quality Control Specialist in the dietary supplement industry ensures products meet established standards of quality and safety before they reach consumers. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control processes and procedures, conducting inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, maintaining detailed records, and identifying areas for improvement. The specialist collaborates with production and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as FDA and GMP regulations.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of industry standards are essential.

• Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
• Perform line checks and verify manufacturing and packaging processes.
• Audit batch records and verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Verify that manufacturing processes comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and monitor critical control points.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment.
• Conduct tests at various stages of manufacturing to ensure composition and quality, including capsule/tablet weight, dissolution, and disintegration.
• Perform thorough testing of the final product for active ingredient potency and purity, and confirm compliance with product specifications, including label claims.
• Test for microbial contamination and other potential safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits to ensure traceability of all materials and products.
• Investigate quality issues or product failures to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify areas for process improvement to enhance product quality and efficiency and foster a culture of quality and safety awareness.
