Pride Staff is conducting a search for a Quality Manager for their Akron area light manufacturing client. Our client is seeking ahands-on, proactive Quality Managerto oversee their quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with industry standards. The ideal Quality Manager candidate will have extensive experience in quality management systems, particularly within the manufacturing sector. This role is crucial for maintaining high-quality standards, conducting quality audits, and ensuring adherence to FDA regulations and ISO standards.
To be successful in this role, the Quality Manager must be a hands-on leader who is actively engaged on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on product inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other tools to ensure conformance to specifications
- Audit and improve existing quality testing performed by operators; verify documentation accuracy and compliance
- Review and interpret SPC charts, identifying trends and supporting corrective actions
- Own and lead the response to customer complaints, root cause investigations, and internal corrective actions
- Authorize the release of finished goods based on inspection outcomes and documentation
- Establish and maintain calibration schedules for measurement equipment, coordinating with outside services as needed
- Serve as the go-to quality expert for operators and engineers, providing guidance and feedback on product acceptability
- Champion ISO standards; lead audit preparation and ensure ongoing compliance
- Design and build quality systems, SOPs, documentation workflows, and team structure as we scale
- Identify, train, and lead future quality technicians as the department grows
- Support continuous improvement efforts and collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams
- Perform all other duties as needed to build and maintain a high-performing quality function
- 2+ years of experience in quality assurance, ideally in a manufacturing or production environment
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Hands-on experience with measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, video measuring systems, etc.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards
- Comfortable reading blueprints and technical specifications
- Understanding of SPC control charting and trend analysis
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred
- Self-starter attitude with a desire to build something from the ground up
