Account Executive

Civi Tax | Remote in Ohio, regular travel to client sites

Civi Tax is modern municipal income tax software for Ohio cities. It uses AI to process paper returns, gives taxpayers an online filing and payment portal, and lets cities run tax collection in-house under their own name. The platform is live with city customers and demand is growing. We're hiring our first dedicated Account Executive to own new business.

You’ll own the full sales cycle with Ohio municipalities: building pipeline, discovery, demos, proposals, RFP responses and close. You’ll sell to finance directors, tax administrators, city managers and council members. Deals run several months, follow budget cycles and often need council approval. You’ll work directly with product and leadership to shape how Civi Tax goes to market.

• Build and manage a pipeline of Ohio municipalities, from first contact to signed contract
• Lead discovery with finance and tax staff, and build the cost and savings case for each city
• Run product demos with support from our solutions team
• Manage RFP and procurement processes, including council presentations
• Represent Civi Tax at municipal and government finance associations and events
• Keep CRM records current and forecast accurately
• Pass customer feedback to product to inform the roadmap

• 5+ years of B2B software sales, with at least 2 years selling to local government
• A track record of closing deals with long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
• Experience with RFPs, public procurement and budget-cycle timing
• Comfortable building pipeline from scratch without relying on inbound leads
• Able to discuss financial cost and savings with a CFO or finance director
• Based in Ohio, with a valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 50%
• Nice to have: knowledge of Ohio municipal income tax, existing relationships with Ohio city finance leaders, or experience selling revenue, tax or ERP software to government

• On-target earnings of about $200,000, made up of base salary plus uncapped commission
• The product is live. Civi Tax already runs with city customers. You’ll sell software that’s working in production today, not a roadmap.
• The territory is open. Hundreds of Ohio municipalities levy an income tax, and most still collect it on older tools or pay a third party to do it. You start with no inherited accounts and no internal competition for territory.
• Buyers can see the savings. Every city already pays to collect its tax. Civi Tax lowers that cost, so the conversation is about budget savings the finance director can verify.
• You’ll be selling AI that’s real. The platform reads paper returns and flags errors automatically. Tax staff see the difference in the first demo.
• A full engineering team supports you. You won’t be waiting on a two-person startup to fix things. When customers ask for something, it gets built.
• You can build the sales team. As the first sales hire, you’ll set the sales process and pricing, and have a path to leading the team as Civi Tax grows.
• The work matters. Cities keep more of their own tax dollars, residents get a modern way to file and pay, and tax staff stop keying paper by hand.
