Education ​/ Teaching Instructor, University Professor

The Department of Biology at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time Instructor position specialized in Molecular Biology and Genetics. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and supervising undergraduate laboratory courses in the fields of molecular biology, genetics, and related disciplines. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educator with a strong background in molecular techniques, genetic analysis, and laboratory instruction.

The instructor will work closely with faculty members to deliver practical training that supports the department’s academic goals and the university’s commitment to excellence in teaching.

• Design, prepare, and deliver undergraduate laboratory sessions in molecular biology, genetics, and related areas.
• Supervise students during lab activities and provide hands‑on guidance and technical support.
• Develop and update lab manuals, protocols, and safety guidelines in coordination with course coordinators.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and ensure all instruments are in working condition.
• Enforce laboratory health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safe lab practices.
• Assist faculty members in the development of new laboratory courses or the revision of existing ones.
• Support students in their understanding of laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific writing.
• Contribute to the assessment of students' lab performance, lab reports, and practical exams.
• Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and quality assurance processes as required.
• Engage in professional development activities to stay current in the fields of molecular biology and genetics.

• Master’s degree (MSc) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or a closely related field. (PhD is a plus but not required for this instructor position.)
• Demonstrated experience in teaching or supervising laboratory courses in a university or higher education setting.
• Proficiency in a wide range of molecular and genetic laboratory techniques, such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, and gene expression analysis.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural academic environment.

• Experience in curriculum development or instructional design for lab‑based courses.
• Knowledge of biosafety standards and laboratory quality control procedures.
• Familiarity with digital tools and learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) for lab instruction and assessment.
