Position: IGCSE -ENGLISH TEACHER / HOD
The purpose of the job of a ‘Head of the Department ’ is for providing guidance and support to the instructional team with specific responsibility for monitoring and raising the standards of curriculum instruction of the department, improving the standards of subject/language level expertise among the staff, all the relevant activities related to the board exam preparations for the subject/language, focusing on the board exam results and paving the way to develop excellence in the subject/language;
support the staff in their performance development; plan, create and execute programmes to achieve the departmental goals.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Following the ethical code of professionalismTeaching – Curriculum Instruction managementDepartment Developmental Plan synchronous with the SDPDevelop departmental objectives and goalsDevelop Department Events Calendar involving all grades and all aspects of the subject learningEvaluation & Analysis of Performance of Students in the subject/languageTracking the performance of students for board examsEvaluation & Analysis of Performance of Department TeachersCurriculum construction for the subject throughout the grades for whole schoolSecuring accountability of department staffContinuous professional development of self and the teamSECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Effective team work with colleaguesIntegration of ICT and learning/experiencing of UAE culture in the curriculum and facilitationDeveloping Department Publications – Newsletters, handbook, etc.Recording & Reporting of all the activities/events/visits held by the departmentCareer Prospects for the students choosing the SubjectInnovation and initiatives– 1 per monthAccountability to all the resources and facilities of the Department ensuring optimum utilizationBudget Preparation and Requisition of resources for the DepartmentAccountable for all the Departmental/Subject Displays across the SchoolUndertake such other duties that may be required from time to time or whenever necessary for the smooth running of the school, as may be reasonably assigned. (e.g. emergency cover/substitution etc.)Desired Candidate Profile
EDUCATIONAL
QUALIFICATION:
Post Graduate degree and a teaching degree
EXPERIENCE:
5-8 years in teaching leadership positionEQUIVALENCY:
Required from the Ministry of EducationTESTING & LICENSING:
As per the Ministry of Education/ADECCONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED
