Job Description:

Leads and prioritizes the delivery of research and access services in coordination with the Head of Engagement and User Services, ensuring the provision of high-quality services that effectively meet the needs of library users. The role also oversees the management, performance, and continuous improvement of these services, ensuring their efficiency and effectiveness in alignment with the strategic direction and approved policies of the United Arab Emirates University Libraries.

• Contribute to the development of the strategic objectives of the Engagement and User Services Department, and provide leadership and direction to public services teams, including information and reference services, circulation services, and article and document delivery services.
• Recommend plans for developing the library’s collections and services, design programs that strengthen the library’s role within the University, and advise the Head of Engagement and User Services on all matters relating to the library’s physical and digital services.
• Propose and review library development plans, including collection expansion, staffing requirements, and the effective use of information technologies.
• Oversee the design, development, and delivery of staff training programs.
• Provide recommendations on the optimal use of spaces and resources designated for study, collaboration, and engagement within the library.
• Prepare reports on key performance indicators, including usage rates, visitor numbers, and engagement levels, to ensure service quality and support continuous improvement.
• Recommend improvements and appropriate measures relating to library workflows, identify issues in working practices or quality control processes, and propose solutions to enhance performance.
• Liaise with various University units to coordinate library programs, identify the needs of colleges and academic departments, and promote the use of library resources and services across the University.
• Prepare periodic reports and studies outlining achievements, work progress, and future plans for service development.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management within the scope of the position’s responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.

Experience/Skills:

A minimum of three years of professional experience in the libraries.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science
