Job Summary
As the Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (APLO) representing the company role is to support and advise the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and project management team in effectively implementing company Lifting standards and protocols within the O&M and project areas, promoting an culture of safety, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement in safe lifting practices. To be the focal point for all lifting-related SME guidance and support to ensure lifting operations performed by both the Company and Contractors are conducted safely and efficiently.
GeneralResponsibilities
- Policy, Procedures, Process and Systems
- Follow the operational strategy in compliance with the group delegation of authority policy.
- Ensure the compliance of the organization’s policy, systems, processes, procedures, and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
- Reporting
- Ensure that all reports are completed timely and comply with the organisation’s policies, procedures and standards.
- Manage the preparation of periodical management reports and progress reports to keep the project management informed about the initiatives' progress and facilitate decision-making.
- Comply with organisation’s requirements in a timely manner.
- Provide advice and guidance to project management teams on effectively planning and supervising lifting activities, in adherence to company HSE, & regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for thoroughly assessing, analyze, calculating, and establishing a clear procedure/plan to supervise all lifting operations.
- Management of complex, high-risk lifting operations as a Critical Lift Planner.
- Review/assessment of lifting plans/method statements submitted by Contractors or consultants to ensure all lifting operations undertaken are following Company HSE & lifting standard requirements.
- Provide appropriate SME guidance and support to the O&M, Project management team, contractors and consultants engaged in lifting operations.
- Communicating the lift plan to the lifting team, using comprehensive documentation and clear instructions.
- Provide SME support for any lifting operations-related incidents as required.
- Conduct risk assessments and lifting plans under lifting operations regulations.
- Monitor performance and develop remedial work plans for contractors to bring them up to required standards.
- Mentor TAQA HSE, Project and Operations team personnel in best practices for inspections of lifting equipment.
- Conduct any required inspection, audit, or test for lifting operations.
- Supervise any lifting operation as requested by the line management.
- Develop any required lifting plans, risk assessment and any other related documents.
- Represent the company as SME in any required discussion with the regulator or others.

- Taking reasonable care of their own health, safety, environment and security.
- Taking reasonable care of the health, safety, environment and security of persons that may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
- Co-operate with their employer with respect to any instruction and/or actions taken by the employer to protect the employee and/ or comply with HSE and security requirements.
- Report to their immediate line manager any situation which they have reason to believe could present a risk, hazard, or issue to an individual or the company and which they cannot correct themselves.
- Report all HSE and security incidents and work-related injuries.
- Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided at the workplace that supports the interest of HSE, security and welfare.
- Detailed HSE Roles & Responsibilities for staff are identified in the dedicated company procedure.
- Be able to develop lifting plans, supervise and execute all lifting activities.
