We are looking for an experienced EV Powertrain Engineer to lead the electrical architecture and powertrain development of electric go-karts and prototype electric vehicles for a startup client based in Al Ain, UAE.

This is not a wiring harness design role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting, designing and integrating the complete EV powertrain including batteries, battery management systems, motors, motor controllers and electrical protection systems.

The ideal candidate must have independently completed EV projects from concept through testing and commissioning.

• Design complete EV powertrain architecture.
• Select suitable traction motors based on vehicle performance.
• Calculate required torque, power, RPM and gear ratios.
• Design complete electrical power flow.

• Hands‑on experience with lithium‑ion battery packs.
• Battery sizing, configuration, capacity calculations, cell selection, series/parallel configurations, placement, cooling, and safety.

• Strong practical experience with BMS selection, configuration, cell balancing, SOC, SOH, thermal protection, high‑voltage safety, and battery diagnostics.

• Independent selection of BLDC, PMSM, or AC induction motors based on vehicle weight, top speed, acceleration, duty cycle, and track conditions.
• Experience with motor controllers, contractors, HV junction boxes.

• Fuse calculations and connector selection.

• Build prototype EVs.
• Diagnose faults and perform testing.

• Technical selection and procurement of motors, batteries, controllers, BMS, connectors, high‑voltage cables, and electrical components.
• Evaluate suppliers and recommend suitable components.

Minimum 5 years in EV Powertrain Engineering.

• Experience with electric vehicles, electric go‑karts, electric motorcycles, electric racing vehicles, electric utility vehicles.

• Preferred experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Altium, CATIA, NX, LTspice.

• Independently delivered complete EV projects.
• Independently selected motors.
• Independently designed battery systems.
• Configured Battery Management Systems.
• Selected controllers and inverters.
• Calculated battery capacity and range.
• Worked with HV systems.
• Worked directly with suppliers for motors and batteries.

• Wiring harness design only.
• Electrical drafting only.
• Automotive electrical maintenance.
• Harness routing engineer.
• Harness manufacturing engineer.
• Electrical CAD designer only.
