Phlebotomist

Specific Responsibilities for this Role

P performing the work which is assigned ensuring that it meets all standards as required by ISO  EIAC Standards JCI regulatory bodies DOH DHA MOH where applicable

• Perform Blood Draws Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture capillary or fingerstick methods
• Patient Identification Verify patient information and ensure correct labelling of samples to avoid errors
• Prepare and Maintain Equipment Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are sterile organized and properly functioning
• Patient Comfort and Care Ensure a calm safe and comfortable environment for patients addressing any concerns or anxieties
• Maintain Cleanliness Follow proper hygiene protocols maintaining cleanliness in work areas and equipment
• Record and Document Information Accurately document patient information procedures performed and specimens collected
• Transport Samples Safely and efficiently transport specimens to the appropriate laboratories for analysis
• Follow Safety Protocols Adhere to all safety guidelines including the handling and disposal of biohazard materials
• Monitor Patient Reactions Observe patients during and after procedures for any adverse reactions and report concerns to supervisors
• Communicate with Medical Staff Collaborate with physicians nurses and laboratory technicians to ensure accurate and timely results
• Maintain Confidentiality Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding personal health information

• Work in all shifts as scheduled by the Laboratory Director
• Strictly adheres to organization s regulations and policies especially those related to infection control patient safety OSHAD DOH JCI and ISO
• Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service
• Participates and contributes to scheduled in-service training programs
• Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff associates and Management
• Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed
• Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication
• Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them
• Carries out other duties when requested by the Laboratory Director

Certificate of training in an approved Phlebotomy program or Diploma (1 year) Medical Laboratory Technology or Degree in any health-related field. Minimum of one (1) year practical experience as Phlebotomist in a reputed Medical Laboratory Not less than two (2) years of Medical Laboratory experience. Currently licensed in country of origin and with DOH/DHA/MOH license to practice in UAE. Fluent in spoken & written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.

Ability to learn and handle automation & IT programs is desirable but not essential
