Physiotherapy Technician; STMC Rehab

Job Description

Supports the provision of safe, effective, evidence based and comprehensive physiotherapy services, under the supervision of Senior Physiotherapist/ Physiotherapist.

• Using acquired skills to deliver physiotherapy treatment programs under direction from the physiotherapist and using evidence based protocols.
• Monitoring patients’ progress and adapt treatment programs as agreed with physiotherapy staff and ensure qualified staff are updated accordingly.
• Using a range of verbal and non-verbal communication methods to communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programs.
• Taking measurements of patients as required, e.g. of body size, seating posture, etc, in order to match a patient to equipment.
• Assessing environmental factors (home layout, building access) of patients whenever required.
• Assessing of current equipment provision.
• Monitoring all equipment within the department, flagging any maintenance requirements or breakdowns to senior staff.
• Recording any relevant clinical information obtained from the patient during the course of the examination, in line with current policies and procedures.
• Escorting patient, when required within United Arab Emirates.
• Interpreting for patients, if bilingual and required.
• Producing timely, accurate and detailed clinical inputs, in accordance with agreed local and regional standards as applied to the rehabilitation and physiotherapy devices and equipments used.
• Maintaining a detailed knowledge of all rehabilitation, physiotherapy and special equipment available to the section/department. Intervening whenever practical in the fixing and mending of defected equipment and devices.
• Maintaining the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded.
• Maintaining compliance with all safety regulation in manipulating equipment.
• Maintaining compliance with all infection control regulations and policies when dealing with equipment and patients.
• Assessing appropriate materials/equipment following discussion with senior staff. To demonstrate and teach the safe use of materials/equipment in an appropriate manner to clients and/or carers within the limits of competency.
• Assisting in training of students, if required.

• Graduate of an accredited (NLT 2 year curriculum) course as a Physiotherapy Technician.
