Charge Nurse - ICU

Job Description

The ICU Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership and ensures high‑quality, safe patient care within the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves supervising the nursing team during each shift, coordinating patient care activities, and maintaining adherence to clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee patient assessments, planning and evaluating care, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting evidence‑based practice.
• Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, lead conflict resolution, and ensure safe staffing levels in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
• Play a central role in emergency response, patient advocacy, medication safety, and interdisciplinary communication.
• Support patient and family education, maintain professional competencies, guide junior staff, participate in research, complete continuing education requirements, and maintain a professional portfolio.
• Uphold regulatory, organizational, and ethical standards while promoting a safe environment and positive patient experience.
• Lead clinical operations, managing fast‑paced and complex ICU operations while maintaining the highest standard of patient care.

• Bachelor degree in Nursing
• Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or USA with minimum two (2) years course duration
• Successful completion of the National exam:
  • USA: NCLEX - RN
  • Canada:
    Licensing Exam
  • DOH License or eligibility

Must possess strong clinical expertise, leadership capability, critical thinking, and the ability to manage fast‑paced and complex ICU operations.
