Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
- Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment.
- Work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.
- Perform systematic patient assessment, re assessment, and collect pertinent data about the patient's health or situation.
- Understand and analyze assessment information and data to determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
- Define predicted and expected outcomes of the patient's planned care.
- Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team in collaboration with the patient and patient's bystanders.
- Record vital signs and recognize, address, and escape all abnormalities.
- Maintain and update technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.
- Promote patients' health and a safe environment through strategies.
- Understand diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations.
- Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, etc.
- Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
- Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.
- Provide wound care management.
- Assist in medical procedures, invasive or non invasive, as needed.
- Facilitate the process of safe patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Provide care to patients in ambulatory, urgent, and emergent care settings.
- Work in crises and handle patients in trauma situations or severe medical conditions by providing immediate intervention to prevent imminent severe damage, long term disability, or death.
- Assess and identify patient's condition, determine case priority based on assessment.
- Identify best interventions to stabilize the patient and reduce pain intensity.
- Demonstrate sound decision making in emergency scenarios based on vital signs, patient presentation, and assessments.
- Assess and manage episodic illnesses, injuries and acute exacerbations of chronic diseases.
- Provide ongoing assessments including observation, physical examination, laboratory test results and patient response to procedural intervention.
- Engage in patient prioritization, triage, differential diagnosis, patient management, monitoring, and appropriate consultation and coordination of transfer of care.
- Understand diagnostic studies interpretation and the importance of non pharmacological therapies.
- Must have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all required qualifications and experience.
- Manage own professional re licensure.
- Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
- Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter professional team.
- Organizational and administrative skills for using the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic.
