Customs Clearance Specialist

A Customs Clearance Specialist is required to handle all customs clearance operations for imports and exports. This role involves ensuring compliance with customs regulations and preparing necessary documentation for shipments. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating with customs authorities and ensuring timely clearance of goods.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing all customs clearance processes for shipments through land borders, airports, and seaports.
• Ensuring adherence to established procedures and policies.
• Verifying that all required documents are in place before shipment departure or arrival, including invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Inputting shipment data into the customs clearance system (ATPL) to complete clearance procedures.
• Meeting all operational requirements related to import and export shipments.
• Monitoring the movement of shipments from the point of departure to the final destination and providing clients with regular updates on their shipment status.
• Communicating with clients regarding shipment status and maintaining positive relationships to enhance future collaboration opportunities.
• Taking full responsibility for tracking and preparing necessary documentation for customs clearance operations.
• Preparing bills of lading and invoices, ensuring timely submission to clients.
• Reviewing vendor invoices related to shipments before issuing final invoices to clients.
• Preparing and submitting monthly reports.
• Coordinating with transportation companies and freight forwarders at border crossings to ensure efficient delivery and receipt operations.
• Ensuring compliance with product regulations and standards to guarantee the speed and efficiency of customs clearance.
• Assisting suppliers in preparing required documentation for customs authorities to clear imported goods.
• Collaborating with customs officials to resolve any issues or disputes that may arise during the customs clearance process.
• Calculating customs duties and taxes due and submitting them to customs authorities on behalf of suppliers.
• Staying updated on changes in customs regulations and providing guidance to suppliers on how these changes may affect their import operations.
• Coordinating with freight forwarders and other stakeholders involved in the import process to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Maintaining accurate records of all imported goods and related documentation.
• Resolving any issues or disputes that may arise during the customs clearance process, including those related to customs inspections.
• Representing suppliers in discussions with customs authorities or other governmental entities regarding import regulations or trade disputes.
