Job Overview
Position: HYCO Field Operator
Location:
Jubail Industrial Area, Saudi Arabia
Company: BHIG – Blue Hydrogen Industrial Gases Company (joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Air Products Qudra “APQ”).
Responsibilities- Operate the Steam Methane Reformer‑based hydrogen plant and associated units, including CO₂ Removal, CO₂ Compression, PSA with Tail Gas Compression, and Membrane Unit.
- Manage the pipeline network to supply hydrogen, steam, and CO₂ to customers.
- Maintain a safe, stable environment and enforce health & safety practices: PPE, lock‑out‑tag‑out, permit‑to‑work, and emergency response.
- Serve as a first responder for plant emergencies, operating fire‑water monitors and other emergency equipment.
- Perform routine equipment monitoring, checks, startup/shutdown activities, and first‑line troubleshooting.
- Monitor process variables (flows, temperatures, pressures, levels, analytical values) and conduct detailed field rounds.
- Make local adjustments to valves, dampers, and controllers to keep process parameters within limits.
- Assist in commissioning, shutdown, turnaround, and improvement projects to enhance safety, reliability, and profitability.
- Communicate with customers at the field level and maintain relationships to meet demand rates.
- Log operating parameters, significant events, and production data accurately.
- Coordinate maintenance activities, support shift handovers, and provide coaching and motivation to new field operators.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or chemical process operations (or an associate technical degree with equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5years of field operation experience at SMR‑based hydrogen or related plants.
- Strong understanding of SMR process, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, and compressors.
- Mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication in English.
