Librarian

We are seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Librarian to join our team in Al-Rayyan, Qatar. As a Librarian you will be responsible for managing the library’s collection of books, journals and other materials, as well as providing assistance to library patrons. This is a contract position that does not require English proficiency and is open to candidates of Indian nationality.

Accommodation will not be provided for this role.

• Manage the library’s collection by selecting and acquiring new materials, cataloging and classifying items, and maintaining organization.
• Assist library patrons with finding materials, conducting research, and using library resources.
• Develop and implement programs to promote the use of the library and its resources.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facilities within the library.
• Keep up‑to‑date with industry trends and developments to make informed decisions about collection development.
• Collaborate with other librarians and staff to plan events and programs for the community.
• Maintain accurate records of library transactions including circulation statistics and inventory.

• Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field.
• Previous experience working in a library or related setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of cataloging systems and classification schemes.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Familiarity with technology used in libraries such as integrated library systems (ILS) is a plus.
