The Naval Architect (Drydock) plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of vessel repair and maintenance operations within a shipyard environment. This position is central to the technical integrity and operational readiness of marine vessels, particularly in drydock settings. The ideal candidate will lead technical planning, coordinate complex repair projects, and ensure adherence to international standards, while supporting offshore operations and vessel lifecycle management.
The role demands a high level of technical expertise, project coordination ability, and leadership in dynamic marine environments.
- Prepare and review drydock specifications, repair scopes, technical reports, and engineering documentation
- Coordinate drydock schedules, vessel maintenance activities, ship repair operations, and project timelines
- Conduct vessel inspections, structural assessments, and hull condition evaluations
- Supervise steel renewal works, blasting & painting activities, machinery inspections, and repair execution
- Monitor marine engineering projects to ensure safety, quality, and operational efficiency
- Coordinate with shipyard teams, marine engineers, classification societies, contractors, and vessel owners
- Ensure compliance with international marine regulations, safety procedures, and classification standards
- Support offshore vessel operations, technical troubleshooting, and maintenance planning
- Review technical drawings, vessel modification plans, and engineering calculations
- Assist in budgeting, project cost estimation, material planning, and technical procurement activities
- Maintain detailed project reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation
- Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum experience in drydock operations, ship repair, vessel maintenance, or marine construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of ship structures, marine systems, offshore vessels, and drydock procedures
- Experience working with shipyards, offshore companies, marine contractors, or vessel management firms
- Familiarity with IMO regulations, classification society standards, and marine safety requirements
- Proficiency in technical reporting, AutoCAD, engineering software, and project coordination
- Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced marine and offshore environments
