Purpose and Scope:

HVAC Technician Sub-Amp acts as a subject matter expert to advising AMP Managers and other operations and engineering staff with the development of overall operation, maintenance, repair, compliance, sustainment, and recapitalization of facility-related mechanical and HVAC assets and associated FYDP+3 requirements identification. Responsible for an asset lifecycle management portfolio containing all systems consistent with NISTIR 6389 and UNIFORMAT II mechanical systems including cooling, heating, ventilating, and elevators.

This position will be in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and it is located at Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB), Doha, Qatar.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Subject matter expertise lends itself to advising the AMP Managers, the Operations Flight, and Engineering Flight with recommendations on how best to invest in the systems under their purview.

  • Advises and assists with the development of overall operation, maintenance, repair, compliance, sustainment, and recapitalization of facility-related mechanical and HVAC assets and associated FYDP+3 requirements identification.

  • Assists with the pre-design work for new construction, renovations and improvement projects for real property facilities.

  • Will provide technical guidance on the Mechanical Distribution Sub-AMP function. The Mechanical Distribution Sub-AMP is responsible for an asset lifecycle management portfolio containing all facilities for the sole purpose of providing transmission, monitoring, and maintenance support to the natural gas, fuels, steam and hot water distribution systems up to the five-foot line of structures. The Mechanical Distribution Sub-AMP is also responsible for all facility-specific heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and facility mechanical rooms.

    The Mechanical Distribution Sub-AMP manager shall advise and assist with the development of the FYDP+3 infrastructure plans for natural gas, steam, hot water and HVAC plans.

  • Provide technical guidance to support the Mechanical Systems Sub-AMP functions. Responsible for an asset lifecycle management portfolio containing all systems consistent with NISTIR 6389 and UNIFORMAT II mechanical systems including cooling, heating, ventilating, and elevators. Advise and assist with the development of the overall operation, maintenance, repair, compliance, sustainment, and recapitalization of facility-related mechanical and HVAC assets and associated FYDP+3 requirements identification.

  • Interprets and adapts traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards.

  • Responsible for selected construction inspections, quality control and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managers.

  • Assists with the development of cost estimates and time schedules.

  • Prepares necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets and status report and prepares final construction drawings suitable for obtaining qualified bids from Contractors.

  • Complies with health, safety and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

  • Acts as Alternate BUILDER Point of Contact (POC).

  • Manage and administer functions of the BUILDER database to ensure optimum access and usage of the database, and to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and currency of the data.

  • Input and provide quality assurance of all necessary database entries in conjunction with other squadron flights.

  • Inventory and enter RPIE into the BUILDER database.

  • Maintain the BUILDER facility inventory 100% in synchronization with the Air Force Accountable Property System of Record (APSR), Nex Gen IT.

  • Ensure the BUILDER contains only one facility record per Real Property Unique Identifier (RPUID).

  • Ensure all facilities with RPA Type equal to B, S, or LS have all required systems inventoried in BUILDER.

  • Identify, track, and inventory all facilities with no RPUID assigned until such time as the AFCEC assigns a unique RPUID.
