TELECOM TECHNICIAN (ELV SYSTEMS)
Overview
We are supporting a large organisation with the recruitment of multiple Telecom Technicians to support the installation, operation, and maintenance of low-voltage and security systems across large-scale facilities and infrastructure projects. This role suits hands-on technicians with strong troubleshooting skills and experience working in complex, operational environments.
You will be involved in the delivery and support of mission-critical communication and security systems, ensuring high availability, compliance with standards, and reliable day-to-day operation.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, test, operate, and maintain CCTV, access control, and related ELV systems
Provide first-line technical support for ELV and security system incidents under normal and emergency conditions
Supervise and coordinate contractor activities during installation and maintenance works
Carry out commissioning and testing of structured copper and fibre cabling infrastructure
Perform preventative maintenance activities to ensure system reliability and minimise service interruptions
Troubleshoot faults using specialised test equipment and apply corrective actions in line with procedures
Ensure all installations comply with approved standards, policies, and technical guidelines
Maintain accurate technical records, logs, and documentation for systems and incidents
Support continuous improvement of ELV system standards, procedures, and working practices
Escalate technical risks, issues, or improvement opportunities to supervisors and management
Interface regularly with engineers, technical teams, auditors, and other stakeholders to support project and operational objectives
Support 24x7 operational coverage when required
Qualifications
Secondary education with a recognised technical diploma following a minimum three-year full-time course
Technical training or certifications in ELV or security systems are an advantage
Experience and Skills
Minimum of 5 years technical experience in telecommunications or ELV systems
Strong working knowledge of CCTV systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques
Experience working on large buildings, infrastructure, or civil projects
Good understanding of structured cabling, fibre optics, IP-based systems, and network infrastructure
Hands-on experience with ELV testing tools such as CCTV testers, network testers, and multimeters
Familiarity with access control, building management, and related ELV technologies is an advantage
Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy
