Penn State is currently seeking a PSAA Associate Director, Affinity Engagement in supporting the Alumni Association’s Volunteer Engagement team is seeking a dynamic, caring, energetic, self-directed, and thoughtful team member to provide oversight, direction, project management, and operations. This role requires occasional work on evenings and weekends. As a member of the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, you can play an integral role in Penn State’s future and contribute to one of the most successful fundraising and alumni relations operations in the country.
Reporting to the Director, Volunteer Engagement and working closely with the Alumni Association’s Volunteer Engagement team, as well as other partners, the PSAA Associate Director, Affinity Engagement will:
- Responsible for the strategy and development of programs for the Alumni Association’s network of alumni interest groups, the Black Alumni Reunion, the Fast Start mentoring program, and more;
- Articulate Penn State’s needs, ambitions, and values, through excellent informal and formal communications;
- Provide coaching, direction, and strategy to the Alumni Association’s network of alumni interest groups and their boards, volunteers, etc.
- Develop, plan, and execute the strategy and execution of programming for the Fast Start mentorship program, a program committed to serving students from underrepresented backgrounds.
- Partner with select audiences and groups, like the Black Alumni Reunion committee, to plan and execute activities.
- Provide strategic direction and support with respect to volunteer engagement opportunities for our diverse community of alumni and friends. Evaluate existing programs and services and utilize results to determine strategies to best support the changing needs for volunteer opportunities.
- Lead, coach, and supervise volunteers to achieve goals.
- Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders (including University departments and Division colleagues), with particular attention to those serving diverse audiences.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience with alumni and student engagement and advising, volunteer management, stewardship, supervision, and financial oversight. In addition, the ideal candidate should have the ability to manage a complex program and build relationships with students, alumni, and friends.;
- A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to build relationships with various communities;
- Strong communication skills, the successful candidate will develop and produce internal and external presentations, proposals, and reports for the Alumni Association and others.
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills;
- A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team;
- A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required
