Graduate Administrative Assistant – Social Work Program (Spring 2026)
Jacksonville State University is seeking a Graduate Administrative Assistant (GAA) for the Social Work Program.
Position SummaryA Graduate Administrative Assistant assists administrative staff with collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, supporting special projects, and performing other duties assigned by the unit’s supervisor. The role is paid at $12.00 per hour, with a maximum of 20 hours per week for three semesters. In addition to the stipend, the assistantship includes a tuition scholarship of 9 semester hours of graduate tuition and the general university fee.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Assist in logging and processing conference, grant, and internship materials.
- Attend recruitment events as a representative of the Graduate School.
- Assist with research‑related tasks, including use of the library and internet to locate and update sources.
- Perform a combination of duties under the supervision of the grant personnel.
- Execute clerical and other related duties as assigned.
- Classification as a degree‑seeking graduate student at JSU.
- Active enrollment in a graduate degree program at JSU during the assistantship semester.
- If new, admission to a degree program.
- Active enrollment in required coursework toward the degree; courses not part of the degree program plan will not be paid.
- Mention of foundation or deficiency courses documented via memo from advisor to Director of Graduate Studies (if applicable).
- Minimum required GPA for the enrolled degree program.
- Enrollment of 6–9 graduate semester hours per term (or summer term).
- Not holding another campus job.
- Not receiving other tuition scholarships or waivers from the University, though external scholarships are allowed.
- Compliance with all policies if previously held a JSU Graduate Assistantship.
- Appointment to a Graduate Teaching Assistantship during a summer term only permitted with prior permission of advisor and Director of Graduate Studies.
- Completion of FERPA training, Sexual Harassment training, and other required training.
- International graduate assistants must be certified by the Director of the International House and Programs.
- Valid immigration status required.
- Must be enrolled at JSU as a full‑time student and possess the following: passport, F‑1 or J‑1 visa, I‑94, official photo , Social Security Card marked “Valid for Work Only” (or equivalent).
