Job Summary

The Department of History and Foreign Languages seeks Adjunct Faculty to teach survey(s) of U.S., World, or Western Civilization history, and conduct weekly office hours. Courses are taught in person, hybrid, and/or online.

Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree in a field appropriate to the discipline with at least 18 hours completed in graduate-level courses. Transcripts submitted with the application must show these minimum qualifications. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for lectures, attendance, exams, grading and meeting university deadlines.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in history, or training and experience in the field to be qualified to teach specific courses.
  • Experience with in-person, hybrid, or online instruction
Preferred Qualifications
  • College or University teaching experience.
  • Teaching and/or conducting action research either at K-12 or higher education levels
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

Department Information

History courses cover a vast range array of periods and geographic areas, from the ancient era to the twenty-first-century U.S., from modern China to modern Mexico, from colonial America to the Middle East. They explore a wide variety of themes and issues, including global and regional history; the study of gender and identity; science and medicine; music and visual culture; diaspora and ethnicity;

class and culture; war, violence, and peace. History offers a B.A. degree and a minor that compliments any major.

The Foreign Languages program develops student competencies in the languages, literature, and cultures of these language communities. Introductory language courses are complemented by deeper studies, providing opportunities to develop more specific interests of students of literature and culture, including film studies. Students can earn a B.A. in Foreign Languages, with a concentration in Spanish or French. The program offers Minors in French and Spanish.
