Training Instructor

We are seeking a Training Instructor to deliver classroom, surface, and underground training for miners at our mining facilities in Brookwood, Alabama. This person will serve as a role model for the “Warrior Way” and uphold the highest standards of safety, professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.

About the Role:

Deliver routine classroom instruction and provide hands-on training at surface and underground work locations as needed. The instructor will conduct experienced miner training, new miner training, first aid and emergency-response courses, and other assigned safety training. Training must be accurate, engaging, and practical so employees can apply required knowledge and skills safely on the job.

Responsibilities:

Conduct underground and surface experienced miner training and underground and surface new miner training.

Teach first aid courses, including CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS), and other assigned emergency-response topics.

Provide safety training and hands-on instruction in the classroom, at surface work locations, or underground as operational needs require.

Prepare classrooms, training aids, equipment, and course materials before each class.

Create, edit, and deliver clear, engaging PowerPoint presentations and other training materials.

Use practical examples, demonstrations, coaching, and learner participation to reinforce safe work practices.

Develop new training courses as assigned and update existing courses to reflect changes in equipment, operations, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate training records and organize current course materials in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other assigned learning systems.

Coordinate with operations, safety, and training leadership to identify training needs and support employee and leader development.

Who You Are :

Current MSHA underground and surface instructor certifications.

Current Alabama Mine Foreman certification.

Experience working in both underground and surface mining operations.

General working knowledge of continuous miner sections, longwall operations, diesel equipment, electricity, outby work, preparation plant operations, and heavy equipment.

Demonstrated experience teaching mining, safety, first aid, or related technical subjects at a work site or in a classroom setting.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, with strong knowledge of PowerPoint and the ability to create, edit, and deliver presentations.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an engaging and organized approach to instruction.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple training assignments, and maintain accurate records and course materials.

Workday Learning experience is preferred.

Leadership and coaching experience is preferred, along with a desire to help develop more engaged and effective leaders.

Environment and Safety:

Improve on safety standards by holding safety meetings, conducting safety interactions, and taking corrective action where required.

Ensure adherence to State, Federal and Company workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.

Maintain a high level of safety performance through effective communication, monitoring, and revision of standard work procedures.
