Summary
The PALACE Acquire Program offers a permanent position after completing the 3‑year formal training. Interns experience personal and professional growth while effectively and ethically dealing with change, complexity, and problem solving. Promotions and salary increases are based on performance and supervisory approval.
OverviewOpen dates:
September 29, 2025 – September 28, 2026.
$49,960 – $99,314 per year. Total salary varies by location.
Responsibilities- Continue work assignments in environmental physical science, supporting complex projects across the organization.
- Execute moderate‑size projects and portions of more complex projects in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws.
- Coordinate curricula and training for assigned program areas at the installation, supporting quality improvement and promoting the environmental awareness program.
- Provide advisory services on problems and issues relating to well‑defined, moderate‑size projects.
- Direct deposit required for all federal employees.
- Student loan repayment may be authorized.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration required for males.
- Permanent Change of Station expenses may be authorized.
- Random drug testing may be required.
- Must maintain current certifications.
- Security clearance may be required (Secret, Top Secret, or Special Sensitive).
- Mobilize and relocate may be required during or after training.
- One‑year probationary period required.
- Grade Point Average ≥ 2.95/4.0.
- Successful completion of all training and regulatory requirements.
- Occasional travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics with 24 semester hours in physical science or related engineering science (mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, electronics).
- GS‑7:
Bachelor’s degree, Superior Academic Achievement GPA 2.95+ or 3.45+. - GS‑9:
Master’s level graduate education, GPA 2.95+ or 3.45+. - Professional knowledge of environmental physical science principles.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
