Schedule:
7-on 7-off (7 days on, 7 days off).
The Pharmacy Technician working a 7-on 7-off schedule plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure the safe and efficient dispensing of medications. This position involves accurately preparing and distributing prescription medications while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. The technician will manage inventory, assist with medication orders, and provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
Working in a fast-paced environment, the technician must maintain meticulous attention to detail to prevent errors and ensure patient safety. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall healthcare delivery process by facilitating timely and accurate pharmaceutical services.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) as required by state regulations.
- Previous experience working as a pharmacy technician or in a related healthcare setting.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication dispensing procedures.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical pharmacy environment.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Additional certifications or training in sterile compounding or IV admixture preparation.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Verify prescription information and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Assist pharmacists in compounding medications and preparing intravenous admixtures as needed.
- Provide clear and courteous communication to patients and healthcare professionals regarding medication usage and availability.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and controlled substances.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality assurance procedures to minimize errors and ensure patient safety.
The required skills such as attention to detail and knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology are essential for accurately preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring patient safety. Communication skills are used daily to interact effectively with patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers, providing clear information and support.
