Job Description Summary

Aviagen is seeking to fill a veterinary position to support its poultry breeding program. This position will be based in Elkmont, AL and support Aviagen’s poultry health, biosecurity, and welfare programs. This position will report directly to the Complex Manager.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with complex veterinarians to analyze health and biosecurity across programs.
• Oversee health visits for flocks including sick flock visits, audits, and more.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure flock health, welfare, and biosecurity.
• Organize and execute trials to improve biosecurity, health, and welfare.
• Participate in audits and contribute to preventative medicine programs.
• Collaborate with teams to improve chick quality.
• Interpret veterinary laboratory diagnostic tests and liaise with lab management.
• Conduct inspections for PS hatcheries.
• Perform clinical and necropsy examinations as needed.
• Seek training to enhance professional skills.

Qualifications

• DVM degree with ability to be licensed in multiple states (TN, AL, others).
• USDA National Veterinary Accreditation, Category II in each state.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver license and ability to travel domestically.
