Meek Baptist Church is seeking a part-time Children's Director to oversee our Children's Ministry. We currently average 20-30 children on Sundays and 30-40 children on Wednesdays. The Children's Director is responsible for building, maintaining, and coordinating a complete Children's Ministry for Meek Baptist Church (MBC). He or she will encourage and oversee the spiritual growth of the children of MBC from Nursery through 6th Grade.
The Children's Director will be under the direct supervision of the Elders.
- Be or become a Member of Meek Baptist Church.
- Affirm the Southern Baptist Convention's Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
- Pass a personal background check.
- Have a personal, abiding, deep and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Have a love for children and their families.
- Have excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Be able to work collaboratively with Children's Ministry volunteers, church leaders, and children's parents.
- Operate as a servant‑leader, leading by example, demonstrating a servant's heart as a growing disciple of Jesus Christ.
Previous experience in children's ministry or related roles is preferred. Relevant education or training in ministry, education, or a related field is a plus.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and coordinate weekly children's worship for 4‑year‑olds through 4th Grade during Sunday Morning Services, and for 4‑year‑olds through 6th Grade during Wednesday Night Services.
- Recruit, train, and support Children's Ministry volunteers to help fulfill the total obligations of adult human resource needs for the Children's Ministry, maintaining any required adult‑to‑children ratios.
- Maintain contact with parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities and supporting them as the primary disciple makers of their children through training, resources, and encouragement.
- Keep all Children's Ministry workers updated on children's health issues, special needs, etc.
- Protect Children's Ministry workers and children by having at least two (2) adults (not husband and wife) always present with children.
- Act as or recruit a VBS Director for the planning, preparation, and implementation of a Vacation Bible School program or like‑minded conference/activity.
- Seek to integrate the Children's Ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
- Prepare and manage a yearly budget for the Children's Ministry.
- Organize and maintain a place for all Children's Ministry workers to access teaching supplies (pens, pencils, paper, etc.).
- Ensure that the children have a safe environment, both physically and spiritually.
- Support the Nursery Ministry as needed.
- Submit to the Elders for approval all Children's Ministry programs and curricula, providing a systematic, age‑appropriate overview of the entire Bible, building a solid theological foundation in children.
The part‑time Children's Director is a salaried position starting at $15,000.00 annually.
