Lead with Purpose. Make a Difference.Sumter Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and oversee clinical operations.
This position is ideal for an RN leader who is passionate about developing strong nursing teams, improving quality of care, and creating a supportive environment for residents and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight of all nursing services and clinical operations.
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing leadership, RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Oversee nursing staffing, scheduling, and appropriate resident care coverage.
- Monitor resident care, clinical outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and long-term care regulations.
- Lead survey readiness, infection prevention, and clinical performance initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Administrator, physicians, and interdisciplinary team to support quality resident care.
- Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) or NLC license in good standing – REQUIRED.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Previous nursing leadership or management experience required.
- Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), or comparable clinical leadership experience preferred.
- Skilled nursing facility (SNF), rehabilitation, or long-term care experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of CMS regulations, survey processes, and nursing home compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
