Central Alabama Do you have the technical depth to sell industrial equipment credibly and the sales drive to build a territory from the ground up?

As an Outside Sales Engineer at General Machinery, you will sell a broad range of industrial mechanical equipment — pumps, air compressors, air dryers, blowers, vacuum pumps, overhead cranes, heat exchangers, and more — to manufacturers and industrial customers across central Alabama. You will develop and execute sales strategies, build lasting customer relationships, provide technical guidance, and close business across one of the most diverse industrial equipment portfolios in the Southeast.

This is a role for someone who is technically grounded, self-motivated, and energized by solving real problems for real customers.

What You'll DoGrow Your Territory Establish contact with existing customers, identify new opportunities, and follow up on potential leads across central Alabama.

Monitor industry trends to identify emerging markets and develop plans to expand revenue within your territory.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities across manufacturing, industrial, municipal, and commercial customers.

Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with existing and prospective clients.

Sell Technical Solutions Develop and implement strategies to sell a range of industrial equipment including pumps, air compressors, air dryers, blowers, vacuum pumps, overhead cranes, heat exchangers, and related products.

Understand customer needs in depth and provide tailored solutions that deliver real value for their applications.

Provide technical support and guidance to clients, ensuring they understand the benefits and applications of recommended products.

Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to prospective and existing customers.

Close Business Prepare and deliver proposals, negotiate contracts, and close sales.

Analyze market trends, competition, and customer needs to develop effective sales strategies and stay ahead of the market.

Manage time and territory effectively to maximize customer coverage and pipeline productivity.

What We're Looking For Must Have:

Strong technical knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment — pumps, air compressors, blowers, vacuum pumps, overhead cranes, or related systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of a customer organization.

Self-motivated and able to manage a territory independently with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within the central Alabama territory.

Nice to Have:

Proven experience in industrial equipment sales or a closely related field.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

Established customer relationships across central Alabama's manufacturing and industrial markets.
