Location: Semmes
This position is located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
Incentives and Bonuses- Incentives will not be paid.
- Performs a wide range of major and minor maintenance and inspection work on general aviation aircraft frames, systems, and their components, including high performance aircraft.
- Performs removal, troubleshooting, analysis, repairs, rebuild, modification, installation, replacement, adjustments, alignments, rigging, torques, disassembly, functional operations and checks on major assemblies, subassemblies, and their components.
- Installs, aligns, and adjusts whole new systems, assemblies and surfaces as needed. Perform repairs by installing and adjusting all defective components and parts.
- Use a variety of conglomerate and sensorial diagnostic and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc. to ensure proper functionality and airworthiness.
- Selects appropriate tools and test equipment to determine proper methods and techniques to carry out assignments with little or no supervision. Taxis or tows aircraft regularly to and from maintenance facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all required pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, paragraph 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation and a physical examination.
- Must maintain a current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant license.
- Possess a valid driver’s license as required by local/state or military regulations.
- Must maintain knowledge of current applicable FAA regulations.
- Must frequently handle objects weighing up to 20 and occasionally 50 pounds with/without assistance.
- This position is covered by the DA Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019-R.
- This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
- As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.
- Work is done inside and outside. Inside areas are drafty and noisy, fumes are usually present. Some repairs may be made outside in bad weather. Dirt, dust, and grease are almost always present.
- Aircraft fluids, such as oil and hydraulic fluid, may irritate the eyes or skin. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shocks, strains, and broken bones.
- Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling, and working on and under small aircraft and working in tight spaces in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Makes repairs from work stands and in hard-to-reach places.
