Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer to support the design, scale-up, and operation of Anthro's new production facility for advanced electrolyte materials for use in next-generation lithium-ion batteries, enabling cleaner energy storage solutions and domestic supply chain resilience. The role serves as a technical contributor and owner's representative, ensuring that engineering contractors, equipment vendors, and construction partners deliver against project scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

The position requires a strong background in process engineering, equipment specification, vendor oversight, and commissioning, with the ability to critically evaluate engineering deliverables and manage interfaces across multiple stakeholders. Up to 30% travel is expected for FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities.

Base pay range: $88,000.00/yr - $/yr.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of process engineering experience at an EPC working on chemical or specialty materials projects, or production engineering, including direct involvement in large capital projects from design through commissioning.

In this role, the Process Engineer will serve as a technical contributor and owner's representative, ensuring that engineering contractors, equipment vendors, and construction partners deliver against project scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Owner's Engineering Oversight: act as the technical representative for the owner, review process designs, PFDs, P&IDs, and engineering documentation from EPC contractors and vendors; provide independent input to ensure designs are fit-for-purpose, safe, and aligned with operational requirements; review and approve equipment specifications; lead owner-side technical reviews of vendor proposals and support vendor selection; monitor fabrication, testing, and delivery to ensure compliance with specifications, schedule, and budget;

    participate in FATs and SATs; develop commissioning strategy and oversee commissioning plans; ensure testing and validation are built into commissioning procedures; represent Anthro during commissioning and start-up.
  • Project & Stakeholder Interface: collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure plant design supports long-term business objectives; act as the technical liaison between the company and EPC firms, OEMs, and consultants; provide updates on process engineering status, risks, and issues to project leadership.
  • Risk, Safety & Quality Assurance: proactively identify technical risks; ensure compliance with industry best practices, process safety management (PSM), and regulatory requirements; support implementation of quality assurance systems to validate engineering and construction deliverables.
Requirements
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing, specialty materials, battery electrolytes, pharmaceuticals, or related industries.
  • Proven experience with EPC firms or as a Production Engineer in a chemical process facility; strong background in equipment specification, technical reviews, and commissioning oversight.
  • Proven ability to represent the owner’s interests while managing multiple external stakeholders.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in lithium-ion battery materials, electrolytes, or advanced energy materials.
  • Experience with large-scale CAPEX projects ($50M+) in chemical or materials manufacturing.
  • Professional certifications: PE, PMP, or Six Sigma.

  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to evaluate complex engineering deliverables.
  • Vendor and contractor management with a focus on accountability and quality.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD/Revit, MS Project, and MS Office.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to balance project objectives with long-term operability and safety.
