Under the direction of the Area Manager in the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Consultation Services Branch, the Associate Safety Engineer performs professional safety engineering work in construction, electrical, and industrial safety related to the CAL/OSHA program. Responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, consultations, and assessments across the state, promoting the California Voluntary Protection Program (Cal/VPP), and evaluating workplace safety.
This position may be filled through future vacancies in accordance with 2 CCR 249.3.

Note:

The role involves traveling throughout California for week-long evaluations at employer worksites, requiring overnight stays and transportation via private, state vehicle, or public transit. Work environments include office settings and field sites with potential exposure to hazards, requiring appropriate safety gear and physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs/ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
