Director of Quality

Overview

We are transforming industrial decarbonization with our Rondo Heat Battery technology. Rondo deploys low-cost, zero-carbon heat batteries to accelerate renewable energy deployment and decarbonize industrial processes traditionally viewed as difficult to decarbonize. Our heat batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high-temperature, continuous heat and steam for customers safely, reliably, at high efficiency and cost advantages.

Our technology is designed to replace fossil-fired boilers. By enabling industries to adopt renewable energy without costly factory changes, we are accelerating the transition to a sustainable future. With substantial funding and partnerships across critical industrial sectors, Rondo is scaling rapidly to meet global demand.

• Strategic Leadership:
  Develop Rondo’s holistic quality strategy, balance long-term system development with short-term execution, and build the Quality team as the organization grows.
• Build & Lead the QMS:
  Design and implement Rondo’s Quality Management System, guiding both overall system design and hands-on process implementation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  Partner with product, engineering, supply chain, and project delivery teams to embed quality practices across operations.
• Culture:
  Build a culture of quality through effective communication, training, and enforcement of QMS procedures.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Identify, prioritize, and implement improvements in product quality, process efficiency, and system robustness.
• Customer & Regulatory Interface:
  Serve as the point of contact for external audits, customer quality requirements, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

• 10+ years of experience in quality management, preferably in hardware development, energy systems, or EPC project environments.
• Strong knowledge of QMS frameworks (ISO 9001 or equivalent) and quality tools (FMEA, root cause analysis, etc.).
• Proven ability to build and scale quality systems in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
• Experience across product and project life cycles: design, manufacturing, installation, and field operations.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills; able to influence at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated success in project management and driving cross-functional initiatives.
• Strategic thinker with the flexibility, pragmatism, and bias for action required in a startup environment.

• Rondo HQ location:
  Alameda, near Oakland airport with Bay views

This role is hybrid and requires being on-site at our Alameda HQ 2-3 times per week. The estimated annual salary range is $200,000 to $230,000 and is eligible for Rondo’s benefits listed above, plus potential equity compensation. Some pay bands may have wide ranges to accommodate diverse skill levels and experience.
