Job Description And Duties

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is looking for an Engineering Geologist to join the Contra Costa and Solano County Cleanup Unit of the Northern California and San Gabriel Branch of the Site Mitigation and Restoration Program. This new unit was created to improve the management of cleanup work overseen by DTSC, to better achieve stakeholder goals, improve relationships with the regulated community, and develop lasting relationships with communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California.

As an Engineering Geologist you will have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate complex geology, hydrogeology, vapor intrusion, and contaminant fate and transport data to support remedial investigation or action.
  • Oversee investigation and remediation implementation field activities; perform site inspections, reports, and follow up on progress of remedial action implementation.
  • Work with staff within DTSC, other regulatory agencies, responsible parties, project proponents, local agencies, developers, landowners, contractors, and attorneys to ensure expeditious site cleanups that are protective of human health and the environment.
