Position: E11 Bio - Research Assistant, Biological Sample Processing at Convergent Research Alameda, CA

E11 Bio - Research Assistant, Biological Sample Processing job at Convergent Research. Alameda, CA. E11 Bio is on a mission to unlock whole-brain mammalian connectomics. We are a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers engaged in a neuroscience moonshot project to develop a radical technology platform for scalable mammalian brain mapping. E11 Bio is a non-profit focused research organization organized under the Convergent Research umbrella and located in Alameda, California.

Responsibilities
  • Processing of brain tissue and hydrogel samples (including sample sectioning and trimming)
  • Optimization and development of sample processing technologies
  • Evaluation and quality control of brain samples by fluorescence microscopy
  • Coordination and documentation of sample processing pipeline, including sample hand‑off
  • Experimental validation of new, cutting edge staining reagents in tissue and hydrogel preparations
  • Thorough and professional digital documentation of biological sample and reagent preparation
  • Close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to facilitate experiments based on your work
  • Development and testing of lab automation systems
  • Misc. laboratory duties when needed, including but not necessarily limited to: preparing pre-weighted stocks and liquid buffers for expansion microscopy experiments, tracking and maintaining experimental reagents, assisting with expansion microscopy sample preparation, etc.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent focusing on biological and/or medical sciences (molecular biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, etc.)
  • Experience with molecular biology and microscopy laboratory techniques (e.g. biological sample preparation, immunofluorescence, expansion microscopy, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and a predisposition to maintain accurate records.
  • A willingness and proven history of quickly picking up new processes and adapting to changing needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy
  • Experience with tissue sectioning
  • 2 years laboratory experience as a research associate or equivalent.
  • A track record of independently executing well-defined lines of experimental research
